Hey Parents!

We're glad you found the connection between our youth ministry and you.

If you are considering bringing your teenager along to our Friday nights or just interested in what New Era is, you are in the right place.

New Era is a local youth ministry based in Torbay. We host insanely fun nights every other Friday with a Pre-show, Live Music and an interesting talk as well as many trips and activities throughout the year.

Our aim is to create a place where young people can meet others, have tons of fun, hear about God and grow in their faith, character and identity as a person.

Non-Christian Parent?

At New Era we have tons of young people coming who are not part of a 'Christian family'.  We understand that allowing your teenager into a faith-oriented environment can be a daunting thing, however we want to do everything we can to make sure it is a positive experience for both you and your young people.

Common misconception

Some parents have the misconception that their young person will be forced or 'brainwahed' into believing in God and growing a faith. However, in reality this couldn't be further from the truth. Our belief and philosophy is that while faith should be encouraged and though young people are given the opportunity to express belief in God, a young person should never be pressured into making a decision they don't want to.

You can rest easy and know we will never pressure, force or manipulate your young person into believing in God, as it is completely their own decision that is to be made.

Why should I allow my teenager be a part of New Era?

Allowing your young person to be part of New Era has a bunch of benefits

  • They will meet many other young people their age.

  • They will have a place where they can relax and be themselves.

  • They will have tons of fun on a regular basis.

  • They will take in engaging talks that teach about God and life.

But most importantly, it allows you to have a well deserved night off.

We love young people but also realise the strain parents can go through with all the stresses and pulls of life in the 21st Century. Allowing your young people to attend New Era will give you a spare night a week to spend it however you wish, relaxing, socialising, taking your spouse on a date or just getting things done!

It's safe to say, it would be unfair if you didn't allow your teen to join us.

Is my teenager safe?

We can ensure your teenager is 100% in a safe environment at New Era. We have Adult leaders (who have all been CRB checked) intentionally put in place to safe guard your young person.

If your young person has a particular medical condition please ensure you write an explanatory note including a contact number that is handed in at our Connection desk so we can deal with any emergencies if they were to arise.

How can I stay updated?

We know it can be difficult to stay informed with what your young person is doing while they are at New Era, which is exactly why we have developed the Parent's Newsletter.

The Parent's Newsletter is a periodic update that is sent out to parents containing highlights of the past few months, information about future events and resources to help you best support your young person through their teenage life & how you can get through it alive!

Truth is, as a youth ministry we don't want to just inform parents, we want to partner with you. Which is why we encourage open discussion and conversation about how we can best partner with eachother and together impart into your young people.

You can sign up to our Parent's Newsletter by filling out the form on the left of this page.

On top of that, you can also follow us on our social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr.

Don't hold back in sending us an email if you have any more questions. We look forward to seeing you and your young person!
